Consumer controlled, community based, cross disability, nonresidential agency designed and operated within a local community by individuals with disabilities that provide an array of independent living services. Four core services provided are: information and referral, independent living skills training, peer counseling, and individual and systems advocacy. In addition, may offer transportation services, mobility training, personal assistance, housing and home modifications, recreation services, vocational programs, assistance in obtaining assistive technology equipment and other individualized services designed to increase and maintain independence.

Assisted living facility offering companionship, housekeeping, assistance with personal needs, shopping, errands and medication.

For children up to third grade, our Kids On Track program funded by United Way provides an hour of daily activities, including reading, writing, games and crafts to improve their literacy skills. This program is led by a certified teacher, our director Cathleen Deery.

Companion care services include daily tasks such as meal prep, light housekeeping, errands, shopping, medication reminders, assistance with pet care. Services also include social and interpersonal tasks such as spending quality time with your loved one by chatting and listening, playing board/card games, or transportation to doctor appointments and other outings.

The Northern Broome Senior Center offers a wide range of opportunities for socialization: affordable healthy meals; exercise and wellness programs and volunteer opportunities. Also offer information about services and programs that help people remain healthy, active and independent.

Senior club

The program offers workshops, discussion groups, activities and other types of training that sensitizes participants to people with disabilities, helps them experience what it is like to have a disability, and share techniques for positive communication and interaction with people who have disabilities. Curriculum available for pre-kindergarten through adults.

Provides an opportunity for seniors to serve as companions to developmentally disabled adults ages 21 and older. Offers a small stipend for low income seniors who act as role models and advocates.
