Programs that pay for or provide necessary in-home hospital equipment, monitoring devices, respiratory aids, prevention kits and other medical supplies that are required by people who want to prevent the transmission of an infectious disease, are coping with the effects of a chronic health condition or disability or are convalescing following surgery or illness. Included are programs that provide medical equipment on a loan basis as well as those that provide equipment that people can keep.
Programs that offer skilled nursing care under the guidance and supervision of a physician in the homes of recently discharged hospital patients and other people who need continuous nursing care but are not in an acute phase of their illness.
Programs that provide a brief period of relief or rest for family members, guardians or other people who are regular caregivers for dependent adults or children by offering temporary or intermittent care in the home or in community settings/facilities.

QUAIL SUMMIT is a not-for-profit residential community offering a continuum of housing and care options for older adults. We offer short-term stays at all our communities. Whether you are looking for independent living at The Estates, enriched living at The Harbor, or a safe and loving home for those with memory loss at The Villages — please feel welcome here!
The Family Support Services Respite Programs are provided to individuals throughout the Capital Region and are funded by the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). RCIL at Amsterdam offers 4 respite programs. These services are consumer-controlled, providing consumers with the ability to hire their own staff and caregivers:
• IN-HOME RESPITE: In-Home Respite Program allows for the participant to be taken care of in the home so that the family can have some respite relief in the community.
• NO LIMITS HOME & COMMUNITY: No Limits Home & Community Respite Program allows for the participant to be taken care of in the home and be brought into the community for recreational purposes such as going to the park, movies, dining, etc.
• RECREATIONAL RESPITE: Recreational Respite allows the participant to be taken into the community for recreational purposes. In addition to required eligibility, a documented behavioral concern must be included in the ISP.
• TRAVEL RESPITE: Travel Respite Program allows the participant to be taken out into the community by a family member or a worker and be reimbursed for travel expenses such as cab, train, bus, and gas reimbursement up to .50 cents/mile.
