Program Family Support Navigator:

Family Support Navigator

  • Description:

Family support navigators help individuals with addictions and their families understand the progression of addiction, navigate insurance and treatment systems, and find recovery supports.

This free, confidential program is funded by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

Family support navigators educate families on addictions and how they progress. Referrals can be made to substance abuse treatment providers, as well as medical and mental health providers. We provide guidance on how to navigate health insurance issues.

Information is also available on recovery supports, such as self-help and support groups. We help people find housing and transportation and apply for public assistance, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).

We advocate for our consumers and provide case management services.

Monthly educational programs are offered on addiction, treatment and recovery options, and available supports. Local agencies can request programs be held at their agency on topics their staff and consumers are most interested in.

The Family Support Navigator Program primarily serves Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben counties, but no one will be turned away.

For more information or a free appointment, contact OASAS Services Coordinator Allison O’Dell at aodell@aimcil.com or (607) 962-8225, ext. 230.
