Rockville Centre provides a vast range of services to older adult residents who comprise approximately 20% of the Village population. In fact, the Village of Rockville Centre is one of the few on Long Island to have a Department of Senior Services. So extensive is the Department's programming that Rockville Centre programs are known to county residents as the "Broadway of Senior Centers. The Senior Services Department is dedicated to providing a full scope of services to the diverse older adult population. For the active senior, choices include exotic trips abroad, challenging classes, Men’s Club, Tai Chi and Yoga, one can find a "home away from home" to attend on a regular basis or pick and choose from a vast array of classes, programs, health fairs, meals and other services. For those with specific needs, the professional Social Service Department is available to assist or refer to community services. An extensive Senior Transportation Network includes grocery shopping, daily transportation to the Sandel Senior Center and community activities, non-emergency medical appointments and special trips. For the "specially challenged" senior, the Care Club provides a combination of socialization, nutrition services, trips, and programs to those who might otherwise be homebound.
