Rockville Centre provides a vast range of services to older adult residents who comprise approximately 20% of the Village population. In fact, the Village of Rockville Centre is one of the few on Long Island to have a Department of Senior Services. So extensive is the Department's programming that Rockville Centre programs are known to county residents as the "Broadway of Senior Centers. The Senior Services Department is dedicated to providing a full scope of services to the diverse older adult population. For the active senior, choices include exotic trips abroad, challenging classes, Men’s Club, Tai Chi and Yoga, one can find a "home away from home" to attend on a regular basis or pick and choose from a vast array of classes, programs, health fairs, meals and other services. For those with specific needs, the professional Social Service Department is available to assist or refer to community services. An extensive Senior Transportation Network includes grocery shopping, daily transportation to the Sandel Senior Center and community activities, non-emergency medical appointments and special trips. For the "specially challenged" senior, the Care Club provides a combination of socialization, nutrition services, trips, and programs to those who might otherwise be homebound.

The Town of Oyster Bay Housing Authority is a State-created agency operating under federal contracts. Established in 1963, the Authority maintains 910 units of low income housing for seniors and families at 11 locations throughout the Town of Oyster Bay.Housing priority is given to those who reside within the Town of Oyster Bay. Depending upon size, location and availabilty, the waiting period for occupancy in an Authority complex can be 3 years or longer. Every complex contains amenities such as laundry facilities and a community center. Although the Authority and the Town of Oyster Bay are legally separate entities, they cooperate in making social programs available to seniors at each complex
Support and assistance is based on need and ranges from a few hours per week to 24-hour on-site supervision. Residents must be at least 18 years of age and have a documented disability prior to age 22.
Services include but are not limited to: Residential Habilitation, Skill Enhancement, Recreation, Medical Oversight and Advocacy. Services are individualized based on personal choice, strengths, interests, and preferences.
Highland House is a lovely Victorian home where participants in PACE CNY live together as a community. Just like other PACE CNY participants, Highland House residents receive personal care assistance in their home and go to the PACE day center three days a week for social activities, lunch and medical appointments.
Accommodations: Studios, one and two bedroom apartments, kitchenette with appliances, living/dining room, restaurant style dining room with three daily chef prepared meals, exercise room, beauty salon/barber shop, game room, billiard room, large screen TV lounge, library, chapel, activities and transportation.

"Brookside Gardens: The Town of Hempstead Housing Authority owns and operates 1,309 apartments at 14 separate locations throughout the Town of Hempstead, stretching from the Queens border to the Town of Oyster Bay. The primary goal of the Housing Authority has been, and will continue to be, our commitment to provide safe sanitary housing in the most efficient and cost effective manner.There are efficiency (EFF) apartments for single persons over the age of 62; one bedroom (l-BR) apartments for couples with head of household 62 years or older and a small number of two bedroom (2-BR) apartments for couples, such as brother/sister or two sisters, etc. The Housing Authority also accepts applicants for family apartments consisting of from two to four bedrooms, available at two of our complexes.
Most apartments include range, refrigerator, tile bath, emergency alarm system, etc. Those developments catering exclusively to senior citizens have air-conditioned recreation/social halls. Activities for residents and community members, coordinated by the Town of Hempstead Department of Senior Enrichment, are available weekdays. The rentals for these apartments will be 30% of income, however, there is a deduction of $480 for each child from the total income. Seniors receive a deduction of $400. Utilities are included for all apartments, except at Roosevelt and East Meadow, where a utility allowance is subtracted from the monthly rent.
